Fond du Lac spared of severe weather Tuesday

Fond du Lac County was spared of any major damage when a line of storms went through the area yesterday, Tuesday, August 27, 2024.

While the area was under a slight risk of severe weather issued by the Storm Prediction Center, the storms came much earlier than thought, catching most in the area off guard.

By 10 AM, Green Lake, Marquette and Waushara Counties were placed under sever thunderstorm warnings. The storms that prompted those warnings were moving straight east towards Fond du Lac County but they weekend just before getting here. That wasn’t the case for areas to our north and south however as Washington and Ozaukee Counties as well as the Appleton to Green Bay area had storms strengthen as they went through those areas, knocking down trees and wires. It was reported that close to 40,000 people were without power due to the storms between both areas.
