CHICAGO – Marian Men’s Basketball Head Coach Drake Diener will be inducted into the DePaul Athletics Hall of Fame as part of its Hall of Fame weekend January 10-12.

Diener was a prominent part of the DePaul men’s basketball team from 2001-05 leading the Blue Demons to a Conference USA Championship and NCAA Tournament berth in 2004. He remains the DePaul all-time leader for three-pointers with 216 and free-throw percentage at 87.3 percent. Diener earned all-conference recognition in 2013 after averaging 14.2 points per game and serving as a team captain.

In the 2004 NCAA Tournament, Diener helped lead the Blue Demons past No. 10 seed Dayton in overtime behind a game-high 28 points. DePaul was eliminated from the tournament in the next round by the University of Connecticut who went on to win the championship.

Academically, Diener was named an Academic All-American three times, the Conference USA Men’s Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year twice, and the National Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2015.
