Fond du Lac’s “Halloween Killer” again attempts to be let free after sentence was fulfilled in 2018
The man convicted in a Halloween murder of a 9-year-old girl in Fond du Lac in 1973 was back in court Monday, December 9, 2024, seeking his release.
Gerald Turner, who is now 75-years-old, completed his prison sentence in 2018, but continues to be held at a supervised living facility after prosecutors convinced a judge he’s still dangerous.
The hearing yesterday was for a judge to rule on a motion filed by Turner’s attorney seeking a summary judgment which would avoid a full trial, allowing for a jury to decide whether he is able to be released back into society. The judge denied that request however.
Turner is known as the ‘Halloween killer’ for the murder and sexual assault of Lisa French, who was alone trick or treating back in 1973 in her neighborhood on Rose Avenue. Turner disposed of her body on McCabe road near Taycheedah.
Turner’s last request of release back in 2022 was denied.
He’s due back in court March 12.
