Former Ripon Area Fire District Chief charged after misusing department credit card
A former Ripon Area Fire District chief who resigned in 2022 after allegations that he misused a department credit card for personal use has been formally charged for the incident.
According to the criminal complaint, Timothy Saul is accused of making purchases using a department credit card for several years, dating back to 2016, at one point bringing the cards balance up to $36,000.
When officials questioned a deputy chief on the department, they said they were aware that Saul was having a rough time financially and was aware Saul had used the card for personal reasons.
Some charges on the card show transactions with Alliant Energy and Charter Communications as well as hotel bookings. Saul faces three criminal charges in the case and is scheduled for a court hearing December 23.
