Friday Morning Fire Destroys Alto Barn

A local barn is a total loss following an early Friday morning fire in the Town of Alto.

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office along with the Alto Fire Department were notified Friday, May 13^th, 2022 at 12:30 a.m., of a barn fire at W14425 Mielke Rd, in the Town of Alto, in Fond du Lac County.

Fire Fighters arrived to find flames and smoke exiting the 80×40 metal barn. Preliminary investigation showed the fire started on the southern end of the barn and quickly spread throughout the entire barn.  The barn and the contents inside are considered a total loss including a cat and 4 goats.  

The Alto Fire Department is investigating the cause of the fire which is undetermined at this time.  No firefighters were injured while fighting the fire.  

The Alto Fire Department was assisted at the scene by fire departments from Waupun Country, Brandon/Fairwater, Markesan, RIT Team 3, City of Fond du Lac and LifeStar Ambulance.
