Full Set Of FDL Landmark Ornaments Offered For Auction

Soroptimist International of Fond du Lac has unlocked the vault and pulled out the rare, no-longer-available landmark ornaments to create a full set of the 28 Fond du Lac landmark ornaments the club has sold over the last 27 years. The once-in-a-lifetime collection has been placed on auction online at Facebook Marketplace:

The nonprofit community service club will use the funds raised from the auction to support programs that benefit women and girls.

Soroptimists’ first ornament in 1990 was a white globe featuring the Lakeside Park Lighthouse. Delighted by the enthusiastic response, the club continued the program, every year choosing a new landmark to feature. The selection of The Beer Hut in 2006 proved to be the most popular, with Gilles Frozen Custard from 2009 coming in at No. 2.

This year’s ornament features Hotel Retlaw circa 1923, a maroon globe with gold printing: the hotel façade on one side and the ballroom’s crystal chandelier on the other.

Ornaments are available for sale at $10 each all year long at the City Clerk’s office in City Hall. During the holiday shopping season, annual ornaments are on sale also at Wegner’s Office Supply, EP-Direct, Fox Valley Saving Bank, St. Agnes Credit Union, Hometown Bank, Bank Mutual, Marine Credit Union and Associated Bank
