Garage and vehicle destroyed by fire on northeast side of Fond du Lac

At 1:22 am Sunday, June 30, 2024, the Fond du Lac Communications Center received a call for a garage fire at 567 County Road K in the City of Fond du Lac.

Upon arrival crews found a detached two-car garage heavily involved in fire with the roof already collapsed and a pick-up truck next to the structure also heavily involved in fire.

Firefighters were able to attack the fire with multiple hose lines and knock the fire down in approximately 30 minutes.  Crews continued to work to extinguish the fire for another hour which was hampered due to the debris from the collapsed roof.  One vehicle and a trailer were a total loss in the garage as well as the truck outside.  Another vehicle, an ATV and two other smaller garages sustained heat damage due to the fire as well, however crews were able to prevent further damage during the extinguishment of the main garage fire.

Fire investigators remained on the scene working to determine the cause and origin of the fire.

There were no reported injuries or displaced residents due to the fire. Fond du Lac Police Department assisted on scene with traffic control and sheltering the family and its pets during the fire and also Alliant Energy assisted with utilities.
