Glazing of ice possible this afternoon with initial hit of rain

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for parts of Wisconsin including Fond du Lac County, to go into effect today, Saturday, December 14, 2024, at 3PM.

According to the weather service, an area of mixed precipitation will spread over the area later this afternoon. Of particular concern is the fact that the ground in the area may still be frozen after the last couple days of frigid weather. Because of this, initial precipitation that may fall as rain, may freeze on contact, even though the air temperature is above 32 degrees.

Drivers and pedestrians are urged to use caution while out during the initial rain, especially in shaded areas where the sun hasn’t warmed the ground to above freezing temperatures.
