Goldstein Named New FDL Chief Of Police
The Fond du Lac Police and Fire Commission has named Assistant Chief Aaron Goldstein to be the Police Chief of the Fond du Lac Police Department.
This is the culmination of a search that began on May 3, 2021 when the Police and Fire Commission hired the executive search firm Baker Tilly to assist the Fond du Lac Police and Fire Commission and the City of Fond du Lac in hiring their next Police Chief. Baker Tilly facilitated a national search. They administered a community survey to
capture opinions on the leadership characteristics necessary for Fond du Lac’s next Police Chief followed by a rigorous recruitment process resulting in a pool of 18 candidates.
Two candidates were invited to participate in the final process. The
PFC received public input from the candidate forum and interviewed each candidate. According to a press release, it stated “The PFC greatly appreciated all the work Baker Tilly provided, along with Fond du Lac Human Resources Manager Jackie Braatz.
PFC Commission President Marty Ryan expressed the PFC’s opinion that Chief Goldstein is the best choice for Fond du Lac and has been and will continue to be an outstanding leader.
Aaron Goldstein was hired by the City of Fond du Lac on October 5, 1998. He was promoted to Lieutenant on January 10, 2005 and later assigned to Administrative Lieutenant handling recruitment, hiring and training. He was promoted to Captain on May 23, 2012. He was promoted to Assistant Chief on July 7, 2019.
Goldstein also served as the Department’s Accreditation Manager.
He is a graduate of the 266th Session of the FBI National Academy (Quantico, VA); the International Association of Chiefs of Police “Leadership in Police Organizations”; and a number of other advanced law enforcement and leadership programs.
He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Psycho-Biology from Ripon College (Ripon, WI) and a Master’s Degree in Business Management and Organizational Behavior from Silver Lake College (Manitowoc, WI). Through the course of his career, Chief Goldstein has been awarded with a number of Department commendations, including the Distinguished Service Award and Meritorious Service Award. Additionally, he has also served the Department as a certified Field Training Officer, Firearms Instructor, Defensive and Arrest Tactics Instructor, Professional Communications Instructor, and Vehicle Contacts Instructor.
