Governor Evers Attends Fond du Lac School District Fondy CARES Event

Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers was in Fond du Lac yesterday to be a part of the school district’s Fondy CARES School-Based Mental Health Kick Off event. CARES is an acronym for Community Access Responding and Empowering Students.

Evers addressed those in attendance at the Goodrich Little Theater, continuing his theme of “what’s best for our kids is what’s best for our state including supporting student and youth mental health.”

The School-Based Mental Health Kick Off event brought together Fondy CARES partnering agencies and their therapists to support the collective work in offering comprehensive mental health services to students in the Fond du Lac School District.

In the 2022-23 school year alone, the Fondy CARES program provided over 7,000 therapy sessions to students and their families as needed. Since the inception of the program in the 2019-2020 school year, over 14,000 therapy sessions have occurred through the program.

The Fondy CARES program collaborates with local community-based agencies to offer comprehensive mental health services that go beyond what is typically available in a school setting. These services are delivered by licensed therapists during the school day at all Fond du Lac School District facilities. The program is funded through community donors and grants.
