Great weekend weather changes to a wet couple days this week. Severe weather possible south of state

An absolutely beautiful weekend with plenty of sunshine and high temperatures reaching 70 degrees on Saturday and 80 degrees yesterday. Yesterdays high was 27 degrees above the normal high of 53 and only 4 degrees shy of a record high for the date.

Temperatures will still be above normal today, Monday April, 15, 2024, as we climb to the mid to upper 60s before light winds shift from the north and then possibly the east as models are suggesting a fairly strong lake breeze may make it this far inland from Lake Michigan this afternoon, cooling things down a little.

We stay dry through a good chunk of tomorrow when rain chances increase with an approaching storm system. We likely stay just north of where the real dynamic conditions will be coming together, so we will just get lots of rain and slightly cooler temperatures, but a large hail and potential tornado threat will come together for eastern Iowa and west central Illinois tomorrow.

The rain around here should be done by Wednesday night but not before we see the potential of about an inch to an inch and a half of rain falling between Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday night.

Then we get a chance to dry off and temperatures stay more seasonable for the reminder of the week into the weekend.
