Gun deer hunting season starts Saturday

The gun deer hunting season starts this Saturday, November 23, in Wisconsin and the Wisconsin DNR is stressing safety for hunters and non hunters alike.

They say that safety should start with anyone being in any woods to be wearing at least 50% blaze orange or florescent pink clothing.

Hunters are also reminded of gun safety which consists of treating every firearm as if it is loaded; always point the muzzle in a safe direction; be certain of your target, before and beyond it; and keep your finger outside the trigger guard until you are ready to shoot.

The DNR says almost all gun hunting accidents involve at least one of these rules not being followed.

More than 400,000 licenses have been sold for the 2024 gun deer season which lasts 9 days, ending December 1st.
