Happy Joe’s Closes (Temporarily) FDL Location, President Plans Fall Re-Opening
The Fond du Lac location of Happy Joe’s Pizza has closed, at least temporarily for now. At least that’s what a social media post issued by the location is saying.
According to the post, the location on W. Johnson St., in the site of the former Applebee’s, will be temporarily closed due to the amount of construction in the area.
According to President, CEO and Chief “Happiness” Officer, Tom Sacco, the plan is to re-open in the fall when the construction at the corner of W. Johnson and I-41 is complete.
Saaco tells KFIZ News, “We’re to shut down for the summer. We don’t want to do it, but we’re going to do that because, from a financial standpoint, it makes the best sense.”
He said total sales from two weeks ago were down 25%, and sales last week were down another 10% from that. Sacco said the construction along with the main entrance to the mall being shut down so close to their location makes it difficult, but they’re not the only one feeling the construction pain.
“From what I’ve been told, a number of restaurants along that strip are preparing to close.”
Sacco said they are going to treat the re-opening in fall like it’s a brand new restaurant, and restart this thing all over again.”
Happy Joe’s opened in September of 2021, and is the third Wisconsin location. There are 51 locations across the country, as well as Egypt.
