Head-On Collision Closes 151 Sunday Night

A wrong way driver was to blame for a head on collision last night in Fond du Lac County.

At around 10:40 PM, Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Officers were notified of the wrong way driver, northbound in the southbound lanes near County Highway Y near Lamartine.

A responding officer was getting on 151 southbound at Hickory and witnessed the vehicle still heading north in the southbound lane. Before the officer could take action, the vehicle collided with a southbound vehicle driven by a 20-year-old Madison man. The officer immediately started rendering aid to the occupants of the vehicles and Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue was dispatched for the crash.

There was one person in the south bound vehicle and 2 people in the wrong way vehicle. Both people in the wrong way vehicle sustained non life threatening injuries and
were transported to the hospital.

The wrong way driver was identified as a 27-year-old man from Menomonee Falls.

Deputies noted signs of impairment, and the driver was determined to be under the influence of an intoxicant while operating the vehicle.

The southbound side of 151 was closed for about an hour while crews worked the scene.
