Heavy rainfall and possible dam failure force evacuations in Waupaca County

***UPDATE*** At 146 PM, Emergency management and dam operators reported the failure of Manawa Dam causing flash flooding downstream on the Little Wolf River.
Ongoing rainfall over Waupaca and Outagamie Counties is causing significant flooding in the area.
In the City of Manawa in Waupaca County, the dam on the Little Wolf River is said to be about to fail, causing a flash flood warning for locations down river of the dam.
The National Weather Service warning states “At 1237 PM CDT, Emergency management and dam operators reported the imminent failure of Manawa Dam causing flash flooding downstream on the Little Wolf River. The nearest downstream town is Manawa, located just below.”
According to the City of Manawa’s Facebook page, ALL ENTRANCES into the City of Manawa have been blocked. Please do not try to drive into the City or around the city.

Vehicles are being flooded on the roads around the city. Please Avoid travelling the roads in the City at this time.
Union Street is Flooded. N. Bridge Street is Flooded. Beech Street is washed away. Howard Street is flooded. Industrial Drive is flooded.
Fire Department and Police Department and City Crew is out.
Because of the amount of rain we are receiving that there will be flooding in the streets and yards. It is everywhere in the city. Thank you!
A Mutual Aid Box Alarm (MABAS) has been paged for assistance to the Manawa area for the flooding. Members from Bear Creek, Dale, Marion, Fremont, Rosholt, New London, West Bloomfield, Scandinavia, Iola, Gold cross, Portage County EMS, Clintonville, Weyauwega, Amherst, Waupaca mobile communications unit, Grant, Tigerton and Ogdensburg fire departments have been paged.
In Appleton, numerous fire department calls relating to flooding have been ongoing throughout the early afternoon. Throughout southern Outagamie County, as much as 4 inches of rain has fallen with another 2 inches yet to fall.
Multiple videos on social media are showing several streets in Appleton flooded.
