Flood watch in place for Monday night

A stalled surface front, along with an elevated bit of energy passing over will likely cause a few hours of heavy rainfall Monday afternoon, August 5, 2024, into the overnight hours.

Model guidance tends to show between 1.5 to 2 inches of rain falling, though some locally heavier amounts could occur. This has the potential to cause low lying areas to pond with water.

The stalled out front may be the focus of severe weather with hail and a couple tornadoes possible over extreme southwest Wisconsin, southern Minnesota and northern Iowa later this evening.

KFIZ will be monitoring this potentially dangerous situation as things unfold later today.
