Holiday Weekend Sheriff’s Report
Increased enforcement efforts
on the roads over the three-day Memorial Day weekend led to a number of
citations and arrests by
Lac
Sheriff’s Deputies. Sheriff’s officials report 106 traffic citations were
written over the weekend, of which eleven OWI arrests were made. Six of those
eleven arrests for OWI were made during the afternoon and evening hours on
Saturday. Officials say that many of those arrests were made because other
drivers pointed them out to law enforcement. The
Sheriff’s Department encourages people to continue to notify them if they
witness dangerous driving on the roads. A number of accidents were also reported
in the county over the holiday weekend, but no critical injuries or deaths
resulted from them. The sheriff’s department says to expect enforcement efforts
to continue this summer, with an emphasis on days with increased traffic due to
holidays.
