Holy Family annual Soup du Jour fundraiser collects $6,000 for local nonprofits

Holy Family Catholic Community’s annual Soup du Jour fundraiser, featuring soups donated by over 25 restaurants and groups, collected more than $6,000 to benefit local organizations caring for those in need in our community.
This year’s beneficiaries were the Society of St. Vincent de Paul – Holy Family Conference and the Holyland Food Pantry. The Society of St. Vincent de Paul – Holy Family Conference assists local individuals and families who are struggling to make ends meet by providing direct assistance with rent, food, utilities, and other necessities in a time of crisis. Providing emergency and supplemental food to those in need, the Holyland Food Pantry consistently serves 50 households—a total of 145 adults and children—throughout the Holyland area.

Seeking to support individuals in need and the organizations who serve them, more than two dozen restaurants and groups donated gallons of soup to the March 22nd event. Participants included: A & W Restaurant, Ala Roma, Avenue 795, Blue Line Tavern, Bob’s on the Avenue, Boda’s Restaurant & Catering, Downtown Deli – Donated by Elaine Graf- First Weber, Eden Catering, Faros Restaurant and Cocktails, Fat Joe’s Burgers and Brew, Friar Tuck’s, Gilles Frozen Custard, Oasis Family Restaurant, Red Cabin at Green Acres, Rolling Meadows Restaurant, The Diner, The Hive/Juan’s Catering, The New Stretch Restaurant, The Sweet & Salty Pig, Theo’s 24 and Tucker’s Hamburgers.
Michael Schaefer and Fr. Matthew Kirk, as well as Holy Family Human Concerns Commission, Pastoral Council, Hispanic Ministry and Staff also contributed soup.
After selling over 1,500 cups of soup, this year’s fundraiser brought in more than $6,000 — a record for the parish. With Holy Family Catholic Community’s additional donation, Holyland Food Pantry and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul – Holy Family Conference each received $4,500 to support their work.
“Soup du Jour is proof of how caring a community we have here in Fond du Lac — and of how we all need each other. Without the generosity of our local restaurants and community members, or the work of our volunteers, we would not have been able to offer this fundraiser for Holyland Food Pantry and St. Vincent de Paul. Without those two organizations, our neighbors in need would not have the same access to resources and support as they do now. We depend on one another, and we are so blessed to live in a community that recognizes that,” Holy Family Catholic Community Director of Human Concerns Erin Cobb said.
