Holy Family Warming Shelter to host open house to showcase improvements

The Holy Family Warming Shelter has announced they’ll debut its newly renovated facility with a grand unveiling Thursday, October 24th, that the public is welcome to attend. The shelter, located at 73 E. First Street, will have a ribbon cutting, tours and drawing for their Holy Family Warming Shelter Raffle winners.

Opening last year, the shelter only had two months to prepare the facility before it opened for the winter months. Over the summer, the shelter has undergone updates to increase its capacity to 36 adults per night, adding four on-site bathrooms and showers, and improve accessibility for those with disabilities.

The public unveiling will start at 3 PM on the 24th. The shelter will collect donations of new adult men’s and women’s underwear and socks to provide to the guests during the cold weather season.

The shelter is selling raffle tickets up until the 24th as a means to raise money to help offset the $200,000 yearly operating costs. Tickets are $20 — or six tickets for $100 — and offer the chance to win cash prizes of up to $10,000.

Tickets can be purchased online at hffdl.org/raffle or at the following locations during their business hours:
