Home intruder investigation taking place in City of Fond du Lac
Fond du Lac Police are investigating a home entry on the city’s east side early Tuesday morning, February 17, 2026.
At around 2 a.m., police were notified that an occupant of the home was awoken by a pet dog growling. Upon investigating, the home owner found an intruder in the living room of the house. When confronted, the person ran out a back door.
Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Deputies assisted the city with a K9 track and a drone, but at this time, no one was located.
The intruder was described as wearing a hoodie with the hood up and a mask.
The following is a press release issued by the Fond du Lac Police Department as well as a map of the area being investigated.
At approximately 2:05 a.m., Fond du Lac Police responded to the 1600 block of Primrose Lane after a resident reported an unknown male inside their living room.
The caller indicated the individual entered through an unlocked patio door and may have been wearing a hoodie and face covering. Family members verbally confronted the individual, who fled prior to FDLPD Officers arriving on scene.
Officers immediately established a perimeter. The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office assisted by deploying a drone for aerial support, and a K9 team was utilized to track in the area. Despite an extensive search, the suspect has not yet been located.
The investigation remains active. FDLPD Officers and Detectives will be conducting a neighborhood canvass and reviewing surveillance and doorbell camera footage that may assist in identifying the individual involved.

“This type of incident can feel unsettling, especially when it happens in the place where you should feel the safest, your home,” said Chief Aaron Goldstein. “I want our residents to know that we take this very seriously. An unlawful entry into an occupied residence is something we respond to with urgency and care. We also understand the concern this may cause, and we are here for our community. Please remain alert, check on your neighbors, and report anything suspicious. We are committed to doing everything we can to ensure our neighborhoods remain safe.”
