Home owner stops barn fire with garden hose as fire departments respond

The quick thinking and swift action of a home owner in rural northern Fond du Lac County yesterday may have saved a barn full of hay from burning down.

Around 12:45 p.m. Monday, June 16, 2025, a call came into the Fond du Lac County Communication Center saying that the barn located on Hickory Lane off Hickory Road was on fire. Eldorado, Rosendale and Brandon/Fairwater Fire Departments were dispatched but according to first responding units, someone on the scene was able to put water on the fire with a garden hose which put the fire out before the fire departments got on scene.

Its unknown what started the fire in the first place.
