Hotel Retlaw hopes to strengthen hotel’s finances with financial restructuring
To better position Hotel Retlaw for long-term success, Barker Companies is initiating a financial restructuring of the property. This action allows Barker Companies to strengthen the hotel’s finances and invest more effectively in its growth. “This restructure gives us the flexibility to continue improving the guest experience and investing in the long-term success of the hotel,” said Sarah Richardson, co-owner of Barker Companies. “We’re proud of what Hotel Retlaw represents and excited for what’s ahead.” Barker Companies maintained its investment in the Hotel Retlaw through the pandemic and recession and plans to continue its commitment to the property’s success.
Barker Financial currently manages the entity that owns the hotel, and after the restructure, an affiliate of Barker Financial will own the hotel. The restructure includes foreclosing on loans to eliminate legacy debt incurred by prior owners.
Under the leadership of Barker Companies and General Manager Michelle Angell, Hotel Retlaw has grown its events, meetings, and offerings over the past five years. Famous for its floats in the St. Patrick’s Day and Christmas parades as well as its delicious Breakfast with Santa, Valentine’s Day dinner, Easter, and Mother’s Day brunches, the hotel has become a touchstone for family and community holiday events. Table One restaurant, as well as One Main Café and the Lobby bar, are known for innovative beverage offerings and tasty food. This positive energy and activity in the hotel and its food outlets have attracted a lovely new boutique, La Belle FDL, Wellness 360 Spa, Massage by Jesse, and Jenna H. Beauty.
Barker Companies looks forward to welcoming the community in to see all that Hotel Retlaw has to offer now and into the future. Hotel Retlaw has been Fond du Lac’s hotel for more than 100 years, and we look forward to many more.
