I-41 To Close This Weekend In Milwaukee County

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation has announced they are planning to close a 2.5 mile stretch of I-41 in Milwaukee County this weekend.

41 between Watertown Plank Road and Burleigh Street will close at 11 p.m. Friday, January 6, 2023 and reopen at 6 a.m. Sunday January 8.

The closure will occur so crews can remove an old railroad bridge that crosses the highway just south of North Avenue. The bridge lies between the North Ave and Watertown Plank interchanges, but since North Avenue exits and onramps are already closed for construction, the DOT had to close the highway at the next available open interchange which is Burleigh Street.

The DOT recommends travelers exit at Burleigh to Highway 100, south to Watertown Plank Road, and back to the interstate to detour the construction and reverse, coming from the south.
