Ice shove reported near Quinney on Winnebago’s east side

The ice on Lake Winnebago went from bad to worse last night as strong winds created an ice shove on the east side of the lake. No reports of damage to any structures on the shoreline have been reported, but the shove means several feet of water had to have opened up out on the lake.

One spearer told KFIZ “This is a game changer for those of us diehards that were still planning on going out to spear.”

Along with yesterdays winds, temperatures climbed into the 50s and an area of rain also fell, creating even worse ice conditions than the day before.

Sturgeon spearing begins tomorrow morning.
