Inattentive Driving Believed To Be Factor In Motorcycle Crash

A 75-year-old Lomira man sustained life threatening injuries yesterday in a crash near Waupun.

At about 5PM, The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office, Lifestar EMS and Waupun Fire Department were dispatched to a crash on Highway 49 about 1 1/2 miles east of Waupun where a motorcycle and a passenger car had collided.

A witness on the scene said the man that was on the motorcycle was laying facedown in the roadway unconscious with blood coming out of his mouth. The first officer
on the scene stated the man had labored breathing, and it was decided to have Flight For Life Medical Helicopter fly to the scene.

Initial investigation showed the passenger vehicle was westbound on 49 and had slowed to make a left turn into a local business. The motorcycle was also westbound and failed to slow for the slowing vehicle and crashed into he back off the car. Two 20-year-old woman from Dodge County in the car were uninjured in the crash.

Highway 49 was closed for just over one hour while crews worked the scene.
