Intense Lake Michigan influenced snow affecting areas to our south and north

Drivers heading south around the Racine to the northern Indiana area today, Monday, November 10, 2025, will need to give themselves a lot of extra time to get through that area as an intense lake effect snow storm is currently underway there.

Reports of 9- 12 inches of snow have been widespread in the area with some isolated areas seeing even more.

A strong low pressure system is positioned in such a way that cold air is blowing south across the warmer waters of lake Michigan. This causes the warmer moist air above the water to rise and cause clouds which than transport that moisture to the land south of the lake as snow.

These winds will likely continue into the overnight hours tonight. A winter storm warning is in effect for much of the lakeshore counties in Illinois and Indiana.

Lake effect snow has also been reported over areas of Door County as well.
