International Pyrotechnics Convention Could Bring 12,000 Visitors To Area

The Pyrotechnics Guild International is looking to hold it’s annual convention in Oshkosh in August. A move from the grounds at Wisconsin International Raceway near Kaukauna where the organization has held the event for the last three years.

The group needed to find a new home for the event after neighbors of WIR have complained about noise the convention brings with it.

The group said the convention will now be held at the Sunnyview Expo Center from Aug. 12 through 18.

The group posted on it’s Facebook page, All parties are working on final approvals, and we are optimistic that we can finalize this deal in the coming weeks.

Oshkosh City Manager Mark Rohloff has said he expects the event to be the city’s second largest, behind EAA.

The international fireworks convention is expected to bring in up to 12,000 people.

Kaukauna Mayor Tony Penterman had said the convention would bring in at least $5 million to the area when the convention was in their area.

While the group says it will have onsite camping available, it has not determined a price for reserved spots but is working on details for onsite camping and plans to get that information out in the new year.
