Internet based programs world wide affected including Fond du Lac County Communications Center

A major disruption to many internet based systems affected things world wide and Fond du Lac County was not spared in the mayhem.

Around 11:30 PM last night, Wisconsin State Patrol, City of Fond du Lac Police and the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s office simultaneously reported issues with their computer systems.

The programs affected appeared to be isolated to programs that send and monitor calls on squad and dispatch computers as well as the ability to check warrants for people. There was no disruptions to actual radio communications or DMV statuses.

Microsoft was aware of the issues and worked to fix them, but in the mean time, flights were being cancelled with airlines such as United, Allegiant, Delta and American airlines. Others that were still running suggested travelers get to the airport three hours early to deal with computer issues.

According to the Associated Press, the outages had affected banking systems and media outlets as well.

As of 6:30 most systems were coming back online, including those in the Fond du Lac County Communications Center.
