Jesse Vang to stand trial despite attorney’s attempts to throw out charge

Jesse Vang was ordered to stand trial after a preliminary hearing yesterday on chronic neglect charges in the Ellijah Vue disappearance, despite his attorney asking that the charges of chronic child neglect, party-to-a-crime to be dropped.

Vangs attorney said he believed the prosecution had insufficient evidence in the case and said unless they could make it more definite and certain as to the alleged neglectful conduct, the charge should be dropped.

Manitowoc County District Attorney Jacalyn LaBre said Vang’s conduct while in the care of Elijah, involves multiple instances, and the judge agreed that the charges would stay and Vang would stand trial.

Vang is being held on a $20,000 cash bond, and has an arraignment hearing set for April 16. Elijah’s mother, Vangs girlfriend, Katrina Baur, pleaded not guilty at her arraignment and is due back in court on April 26 for further proceedings.
