Drug Bust


Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s officials arrested two local residents and seized $45,000 worth of drugs during a traffic stop on I-41 Sunday morning. As a result of the traffic stop near County Highway B in the Town of Eden a 24-year-old North Fond du Lac man and 29-year-old Fond du Lac woman were arrested. Deputies seized 132 grams of heroin, 44 grams of high grade marijuana, and 4 grams of crack cocaine. The two were taken to the County Jail pending their court appearances.


Neenah Man Suspected Of Gas Station Robberies

Winnebago County authorities are requesting six robbery charges against a 24-year-old Neenah man who is suspected of robbing six gas stations. It is believed that Phillip Thomas displayed a handgun in each of the robberies and stole cash and cigarettes. He was arrested at a hotel on June 17th. All six of the robberies occurred in May and June. An additional gas station robbery that occurred on June 2nd is still being investigated.

Fatal Farm Accident

Washington County Sheriff’s officials say a man died after he was run over by a skid loader at a Town of Trenton farm Tuesday afternoon. The accident happened on the Roden Echo Valley Farm shortly after 2:30 p.m. Investigators say the man lost his balance while riding on a feed spreader attached to the skid loader and fell between the feeder and a wheel of the skid loader. Deputies and EMTs performed CPR on the man while waiting for Flight for Life to arrive, but the man died before the helicopter got there.

Fatal Fire Victim Identified

Sheboygan Police have released the name of the 62-year-old Sheboygan woman who died in an apartment complex fire Sunday night. Deborah Marsh was found dead inside one of the apartments while firefighters were battling a blaze at the Ember Apartments. The Medical Examiner’s Office says it is likely she died of smoke and soot inhalation. The fire is not considered suspicious. The origin of the fire is still being determined. The State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the fire.

Back To School FDL A Success

The recent Back to School Fond du Lac distribution was a success. About 1,100 students registered for last Saturday’s program at the Boys & Girls Club in Fond du Lac. Organizers say 180 volunteers performed a variety of tasks during the distribution program. Children participating in the program receive backpacks and other school supplies. Back to School Fond du Lac is  a collaborative effort involving a number of local agencies.

Unemployment Rates Down Slightly

 Unemployment rates for the City and County of Fond du Lac were down in July.  The city’s jobless rate was 4.1 percent and the County’s 3.8 percent. Both were rates fell by two-tenths of a percent from June. According to federal labor statistics they were also lower than in July of 2015. The state’s unemployment rate for July remained at 4.2 percent with no change from June.
