KFIZ sports coverage gets a boost with addition of prep sports photographer
KFIZ is happy to announce the addition to our team of a local photographer that will be covering prep sports in Fond du Lac County.
Amy Ackerman of North Fond du Lac has been shooting sports at area high schools for the last five years. She says she started photographing her own kids involvement in sports because she wanted a physical keepsake of those memories of them. It also helps that she’s an avid sports fan as well.
Ackerman is homegrown, graduating from Goodrich High School. She’s still with her high school sweetheart, being married for 24 years now with five kids. Two are still in the North Fond du Lac School system and three have graduated.
While she enjoys shooting all sports, her favorite to photograph is football. She says she’s always had a love for the game.
Ackerman has become a regular face at many schools around the area and parents love seeing the photos she captures of their kids’ games.
When the sports season winds down, Ackerman doesn’t put her photography equipment away. She says the hobby of sports photography has led to other avenues of picture taking. She’s now known in the Fond du Lac area as “A Flash of Sunshine Photography” where she specializes in portraits, kids, families and senior portraits. The senior portraits go hand in hand with the sports photography as the kids and parents are already familiar with her work.
KFIZ News Director and staff Photographer Doug Raflik says Ackerman’s work ethic fits right in with our team here at Mountain Dog Media. Within three days of bringing her on, she had already shot five games.
Raflik goes on to say he’s convinced that parents and fans of local prep sports will be ecstatic at the quality of images Ackerman will bring to our already amazing sports coverage.
