NFL:

His head coach says wide receiver Davante Adams is getting a little better each day, but one of the Packers’ top offensive performers isn’t expected to return this week. Adams injured his toe in the game against Philadelphia September 26th. He didn’t practice Thursday. Green Bay plays the Detroit Lions on Monday Night Football, giving Adams an extra day to recover.  He has caught 25 passes for 378 yards in the four games he played and he hasn’t been officially ruled out yet.

Thursday Night Football:

New England 35, NY Giants 14

–The Patriots improve to 6-0 on the year

College Football:

Mary Hardin Baylor, the team that defeated UW-Oshkosh in the 2016 Division 3 Football Championship, is being forced to vacate their national title. That decision comes from the NCAA’s Committee on Infractions after head coach Pete Fredenberg reportedly provided the use of his car to two student-athletes. The NCAA says the coach “violated head coach responsibility rules when he failed to promote an atmosphere for compliance” and failed to monitor his staff. The decision does not mean UW-Oshkosh is the national champion for 2016 – vacating means there is no champion for the year. UMHB is appealing the ruling.

Fifteen years after the last renovation project, more big changes are coming to the home stadium for the Wisconsin Badgers. Wisconsin Athletics announced initial plans Thursday centering on the south end zone bleachers.  U-W is promising enhanced seating options, including loge boxes and club seats, access to indoor and outdoor hospitality clubs, some climate-controlled amenities, and expanded food and beverage. The timeline for the Camp Randall Future project hasn’t been finalized and a total price tag hasn’t been released.  More information will be available online at CampRandallStadium.com.

The Badgers face Michigan State tomorrow afternoon at Camp Randall – coverage starts at 12:30 pm, kickoff is 2:30 pm.

NBA:

The Fiserv Forum crowd loved the 133-99 rout of the Utah Jazz in Wednesday’s preseason home opener, but team officials may be more concerned with an injury. Bucks guard Eric Bledsoe was knocked out of the action by an oblique strain after playing 12 minutes and scoring five points.  The team says the veteran is considered to be day-to-day. The Bucks are back in action tonight at Dallas

Major League Baseball:

American League Division Series:

–Gerrit Cole tossed eight innings, allowing just two hits with 10 strikeouts in the win for Houston. The Astros win the series 3-2, advance to face the Yankees in the American League Championship Series.
