NFL:
The status of Green Bay Packers wide receiver Davante Adams is uncertain for Sunday’s road game at the Dallas Cowboys. Adams suffered a turf toe injury in last Thursday’s loss to the Eagles and coach Matt LaFleur said he is “day-to-day.” But E-S-P-N is reporting that Adams is “unlikely” to play Sunday. He had a career-high 180 yards against Philadelphia before leaving the game in the fourth quarter. Adams was not at practice Monday and did not practice on Wednesday. Fellow Packers wide-out Allen Lazard said Adams is a freak athlete, “so don’t be surprised if you see him out there Sunday.”
Week 5 of the NFL season begins tonight with Thursday Night Football as the Seattle Seahawks host the LA Rams.

College Hoops:
The Wisconsin men’s basketball team is confident about the 2019-2020 season despite being picked to finish sixth in the Big Ten. Coach Greg Gard and players D’Mitrik Trice and Brevin Pritzl took part in Big Ten media day Wednesday in Illinois. Trice told reporters, “I think with the guys we have, we have a chance to do something pretty special this year.” The Badgers will have to replace the production All-Big Ten center Ethan Happ. Pritzl said, “It doesn’t matter if you have a star player, it’s what those other guys can give you.” He thinks five players could average double figures. Coach Gard said he’s more concerned about how his team grows defensively than where U-W will replace Happ’s numbers on offense. The Badgers season opener is November 5th against St. Mary’s in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Women’s Volleyball:
The number-13 University of Wisconsin volleyball team is celebrating a Big Ten victory over fifth-ranked Penn State. The Badgers took the match in four sets – 23-25, 25-23, 25-13, 25-13 – Wednesday night at a sold-out U-W Field House. Junior outside hitter Grace Loberg had a career-high 21 kills. The win was the one-thousandth in program history for Wisconsin volleyball. The Badgers improve to three-and-oh in conference play and will face third-ranked Nebraska Saturday night in Lincoln.
