The 70th anniversary class of the Wisconsin Athletic Hall of Fame will include a pair of Green Bay Packers legends. The hall announced Thursday that former quarterback Brett Favre and receiver Jordy Nelson will be inducted into the hall of fame on June 5th of 2020.Wisconsin sports icons like Vince Lombardi, Bart Starr, Bud Selig and Herb Kohl are among the 143 members of the Hall of Fame. 

College Football: 

Wisconsin Badgers center Tyler Biadasz has been named the most outstanding center in college football. He has won the Rimington Trophy, becoming the first U-W player ever to claim that award.  His teammate, junior Jonathan Taylor repeated as winner of the Doak Walker Award, given each year to the nation’s best running back. Ron Dayne, Montee Ball and Melvin Gordon are Wisconsin’s former winners of that honor.

Baseball: 

The Milwaukee Brewers have signed their former closer to a one-year, five-point-one-million dollar deal.  Corey Knebel will be trying to bounce back from Tommy John surgery next season. The 28-year-old right-hander had the operation last April. The new agreement is for the same base salary as he had in 2019, but it does include a few bonuses.  Knebel had 39 saves for Milwaukee in 2017, the season when he made the National League All-Star team.

College Volleyball: 

The University of Wisconsin volleyball team is preparing to host the N-C-A-A Regionals this weekend. The number-four Badgers will play 13-seed Texas A-and-M at 1 p-m today and five-seed Nebraska will face number-12 Hawaii at 3:30 this afternoon.The winners of Friday’s matches meet Saturday with a berth to the Final Four in Pittsburgh at stake.
