NBA:
Milwaukee 111, LA Lakers 104
–Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 34 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and had seven assists as the Bucks bounce back from Monday’s loss with a win over the Lakers at Fiserv Forum. Giannis made five three pointers in the win for Milwaukee – who improves to 25-4 on the year. Anthony Davis scored 36 points, LeBron James had 21 in the loss for LA. The Bucks travel to New York to face the Knicks on Saturday night.
Former Bucks coach George Karl and former Wisconsin men’s coach Bo Ryan are among 50 nominees for the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. The finalists will be announced during All-Star Weekend in Chicago. The Class of 2020 will be revealed at the Final Four.
Baseball:
The Milwaukee Brewers are reportedly signing veteran first baseman Justin Smoak to a one-year contract with a club option for 2021. Thirty-three-year-old Smoak hit .208 with 22 home runs and 61 R-B-Is in 121 games for Toronto last season. The Crew declined to bring back Eric Thames and Smoak will fill a need at first base. He’s a switch hitter but most of his power comes from the left side of the plate. Smoak was an All-Star in 2017 when he hit .270 with 38 homers and drove in 90 for the Blue Jays. He is Milwaukee’s seventh free-agent addition this offseason.
College Volleyball:
NCAA Final Four:
Wisconsin 3, Baylor 1 (25-27, 25-21, 25-17, 25-19)
–The Badgers knock off the top-seeded Bears to advance to Saturday’s Championship Game. Wisconsin will play Stanford for the title Saturday night. The Cardinal knocked out Minnesota, sweeping them in three sets.
