–Ryan Braun doubled in the winning run in the top of the ninth as the Brewers won in dramatic fashion for the second straight game and defeated the Reds in the series opener Monday in Cincinnati. Christian Yelich saw his home run streak end, going 1 for 5 at the plate, but he did score the winning run off of Braun’s double. Zach Davies struck out six in five innings, but did not factor into the decision. Game two of the series is tonight – coverage starts at 5:05 on KFIZ.

Minor League Baseball:

The WIsconsin Timber Rattlers will start the 2019 season with five of the top prospects in the Brewers organization on their roster, according to MLB Pipeline. The Brewers Class A affiliate announced their 2019 roster Monday – which features Milwaukee’s 2018 first round pick Brice Turang, the #3 ranked prospect in the Brewers farm system. Also appearing on the Rattler’s roster include pitcher Aaron Ashby (#9 prospect), Pablo Abreu (#20 prospect), Je’Von Ward (#23 prospect) & Adam Hill (#27 prospect). Turang, Ashby and Ward are also ranked in the top 30 by Baseball America. The Timber Rattlers open the season Thursday at Beloit – with their home opener Saturday at home against Beloit.  

NBA:

–Eric Bledsoe scored 29 points, while Giannis Antetokounmpo had a double-double of 28 points and 11 rebounds as the Bucks cut down the Nets Monday night in Brooklyn. Milwaukee holds a three game lead on Toronto in the east with four games to play. The Bucks visit Philadelphia Thursday night.

NFL:

Offseason workout dates for the Packers are out.  They begin their offseason program this coming Monday.  A voluntary minicamp starts on April 23rd, with Organized Team Activities beginning May 20th. A mandatory minicamp gets underway June 11th.

Monday was April Fools’ Day, and Tom Brady thought it would be funny to tweet out he’s retiring. Brady joined Twitter and in his very first tweet he wrote, ”I’m retiring. In my spare time, I’ll be tweeting.” A Twitter spokeswoman confirmed the account does belong to the future Hall of Famer, but also noted that the tweet was posted on April Fools’ Day.

The Steelers have released veteran safety Morgan Burnett just one season into a three-year, $14.5 million contract. Burnett was marred by hamstring and groin injuries last season and missed five games. Burnett spent his first eight seasons in the NFL with Green Bay.
