Tuesday’s High School Results:
WIAA Boys Golf State Tournament:
Fond du Lac finishes 15th overall at in the Division One State Meet with a two-round total of a 668. The Cardinals shot a 334 in both the first and second rounds at state. Sam Nielsen finished in a tie for 41st with a 160 after shooting a final round of an 81. Jonah Duwell scored a two-round total of a 163, Seb Hoban a 170, Kyle Kahl scored a 175, Bryce Holz a 207.
In Division Two – New Holstein’s Calvin Leverenz finished in a tie for 34th with a 129.
In Division Three – Doyle Kelly of St. Mary’s Springs finished in a tie for third overall with a 114. Kelly shot a first round 76, and a shortened final round of a 38 through nine holes.
WIAA Baseball Sectionals:
Division One – at Oshkosh North:
Semifinal: Fond du Lac 4, West Bend West 3
Final: Fond du Lac 7, Sheboygan North 3
–The Cardinals advance to the State Tournament for the first time since 2000 – when they won the state title. Fondy will play Brookfield East next Tuesday in the State Quarterfinals.

–The Booyah get a walk-off base hit in the bottom of the 10th to down the Dock Spiders on the road. Zach Prajzner and Jack Alexander each had two hits in the loss for Fondy. –It was a night to forget at Miller Park – as the Marlins dismantled the Brewers Tuesday night in game one of the series. Miami scored 11 runs in the fifth inning to break the game open. Christian Yelich and Travis Shaw each had a pair of hits in the loss. Game two is tonight – Jimmy Nelson gets the start for the Brewers, Sandy Alcantara goes for Miami. MLB News:
The Brewers added catching depth on day two of the MLB Draft – selecting three catchers, including two on back-to-back picks on the fourth and fifth round. Milwaukee also took two pitchers, a center fielder and a shortstop on Tuesday.
A former Fond du Lac Dock Spiders pitcher was among the selections on day two of the draft on Tuesday. Jacob Kostyshock from the University of Arkansas was an eighth round selection by Colorado. Kostyshock went 2-3 with a 4.40 ERA in 30 & ⅔ innings for the Dock Spiders in 2018.
It was a good night to be a former Fox Valley Association baseball player on Day Two of the MLB draft. Three former FVA pitchers were selected, with Oshkosh West alum Jake Guenther going to Tampa Bay in the seventh round, Appleton North alum Connor Wollersheim going in the eighth round to the Mets and Hortonville and UW-Milwaukee alum Jake Sommers being picked by the Cardinals in the 10th round.
