>>Rookies Dazzled – Packers Hold First Practice Of Training Camp In Lambeau
(Green Bay, WI) — Green Bay Packer rookies had stars in their eyes as the team held its first practice of training camp in Lambeau Field Thursday. Normally, that’s an event shared during Family Night, but the coronavirus pandemic has canceled that this season. First-year players Jordan Love, A-J Dillion and Josiah Deguara say they are just trying to learn the playbook and absorb the knowledge a living legend like Aaron Rodgers can pass on. Deguara says it’s just awesome to be in the huddle with the Future Hall of Famer. Love says he sits back in the meeting room and listens to everything Rodgers has to say. The Packers will work out two more times at Lambeau before the regular season.
>>Parents Of Big Ten Football Players Plan Friday Protest Over Postponed Season
(Rosemont, IL) — Up to 100 parents of Big Ten Conference football players plan to make their feelings known during a Friday protest. One is driving from Jacksonville, Florida to join the crowd outside the conference headquarters in Rosemont, Illinois. They’re mad because the season has been postponed. Randy Wade, the father of Ohio State cornerback Shaun Wade, says he has heard from parents of players at six of the 14 teams in the Big Ten – Ohio State, Penn State, Indiana, Purdue, Iowa and Nebraska — saying they will be there. Commissioner Kevin Warren has already said the decision won’t be revisited.
>>Big East Conference Basketball Teams Will Wear “Black Lives Matter” Patches On Uniforms
(Milwaukee, WI) — The 11 Big East Conference basketball teams will be wearing “Black Lives Matter” patches on their uniforms this season. Marquette men’s associate head coach Dwayne Killings and Justin Gainey helped form the group “Coaches For Action” in June. Both men’s and women’s teams will be wearing the patches during the 2020-21 season, according to a Thursday statement from Big East commissioner Val Ackerman. Golden Eagles players are backing the idea and they have been active in the social justice movement. Killings says that shows the players have “grown as leaders.”
