Kiel Post Office Could Be Renamed To Honor Fallen Officer

Local Congressman Glenn Grothman led the Wisconsin Congressional delegation on legislation to designate the Kiel Post Office as the “Trooper Trevor J. Casper Post Office Building.”

Trooper Casper was shot and killed in a gun battle in the City of Fond du Lac in 2015 during his first day alone on the job when he encountered a bank robbery and homicide suspect driving on 41. While following the suspect, waiting for backup, the suspect turned into the City of Fond du Lac and maneuvered his car in a way where he was able
to fire shots into Casper’s vehicle. Casper was struck but was able to fire back at the man killing him.

Grothman says, “Renaming the post office in his honor serves as a lasting tribute to this young man who was unwavering in his commitment to keeping our streets safe.”

Casper was a staple in the Kiel community, graduating from Kiel High School with the class of 2011.
