King, Carlson Named Sabres of the Month for November

FOND DU LAC – Junior Chelsea King and sophomore Caden Carlson have been named the Sabres of the Month for the month of November.

King (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.) becomes the first Sabre to earn Sabre of the Month recognition for multiple sports after a strong finish to the soccer season and good start to the basketball campaign. In the NACC Tournament for women’s soccer, King made 15 saves against Dominican posting an .882 save percentage in the match. She also went on to earn a spot on the All-NACC team and CSC Academic All-District squad for a second straight season. Then in her transition to the hardwood, King has paced Marian averaging 17.0 points per game, second in the NACC. She had double-digit points in all five games during November including two performances with at least 23 points; St. Scholastica and Lake Forest. King also had a strong month on the defensive end recording 14 steals, third in the conference.

Carlson (Fond du Lac, Wis.) paced the Marian NCAA men’s hockey team in goals in a month that saw the Sabres play five of eight games against teams at least receiving votes in the national polls. He posted a team-best four goals in November along with two assists to give him six points for the month, second on the squad. Carlson had at least one point in five of the eight games to open the season. This includes a multi-point performance in the season opener against Bethel where he scored a goal to go with an assist. Carlson scored the game-winning goal against St. Olaf and both of his helpers in the month came on the game-winning goal.

Marian NCAA men’s hockey hits the road for Adrian Dec. 6-7, and Sabre women’s basketball opens NACC play Wednesday, December 4 at Dominican.
