Lakeside Park carousel won’t be set up this year to allow structure to be built for it

A popular Lakeside Park attraction will not be operating this year.
The carousel, which sits on Main Street across from the playground will sit idle this summer, but will be back next year inside it’s own new building.
For years, the ride has been abused by weather in the summertime as it sits out in the elements, but now a building protecting it will be built, also allowing the ride to stay in tact for the winter months, avoiding the need to take it apart and put into storage each winter.
Construction of the new building is scheduled to begin in late summer and continue into the fall. Once completed, the carousel will be permanently installed inside its new home, ready to welcome riders again in 2026
