Lakeside Park Pedestrian Bridge ready to be assembled

Progress is starting to be made on the pedestrian bridge that will connect Lakeside Park to Lakeside Park West over the Fond du Lac River.

A couple of the bridge sections have arrived on the Lakeside Park side and Fond du Lac City Manager Joe Moore says the bridge should be assembled by the end of March. Then attention will turn towards completing the trail that will be on both sides of the bridge.

The completion date was originally set for the fall of 2023, but was postponed due to the bridge supplier informing the city that delivery of the bridge had been pushed back to the first quarter of 2024.

Final work at the site will be the asphalt trail, asphalt roadway, concrete sidewalk, and turf restoration. The project has a completion date planned for the middle to end of May, at which time the trail and bridge will be opened to the public.
