Law Enforcement In Winnebago and Outagamie Counties Investigate Double Shootings That Left Three Dead

Law enforcement officials in both Winnebago and Outagamie Counties are investigating double shootings that have left three dead and one critically injured Saturday morning.

The first was discovered shortly after 5 AM Saturday when a son found his parents dead in bed with apparent gun shot wounds at their County Road S home in northwestern Winnebago County.

The Winnebago County Sheriff announced Monday that the two people found dead were a husband and wife. They are David A. Metzig, 72 and Jan C. Metzig, 71

Another son was suspected as the shooter and county officials put out an attempt to locate for him. About two hours later he was found acting strange at a YMCA in the Village of Kimberly.

Officers responded and took the man into custody.

The second shooting was discovered at a home in Hortonville in southwest Outagamie County.

At about 11:24 AM, officers from the Hortonville Police Department were dispatched to a house in the 200 block of Spruce Street where two people were found unresponsive with gun shot wounds.

Upon arrival, officers located a deceased adult female and an adult male with serious injuries. Officers immediately began life saving measures and the male
was taken to a local hospital.

No other details have been released on either incident but police say the public is not in danger.
