Ledger Girls Advance To Sectional Final
The St. Mary’s Springs girls basketball team advanced to the WIAA Division Four Sectional Final with a 45-38 win over Markesan on Thursday night in Beaver Dam. The Ledgers jumped out to a 16-4 lead at the end of the first quarter and held a 28-17 lead at the half. The 3rd quarter belonged to the Hornets as they outscored SMSA 14-2 to take a 31-30 lead into the 4th quarter. The young Ledgers owned the 4th quarter with a 15-7 advantage to earn the trip to the Sectional Final. Kelli Schrauth led Springs with 15 points while Melanie Schneider added 14. The win improves SMSA to 21-4 overall. Markesan’s year ends at 19-5. The Ledgers will travel to Hartland on Saturday for the Sectional Final against The Prairie School. Coverage begins at 3:05pm with the Backyard Grill Pregame Show. The tip is set for 3:30pm. The game will also stream at kfiz.com. This will be the Ledger girls first ever appearance in a WIAA Sectional Final.
