Liquor License Suspended At Local Gas Station After Selling To Minors

The Fond du Lac Shell gas station where two minors obtained alcohol in January, just hours before they were killed in an alcohol related car crash, will have
it’s liquor license suspended.

A former clerk that used to work at the gas station is also facing two counts of providing alcohol to a minor resulting in death.

According to a criminal complaint, the clerk at the Fond du Lac Avenue gas station was caught on camera selling 2, 30 packs of beer and a bottle of Captain Morgan’s to
a minor without ID’ing the person. Hours later, that person as well as another local teen died in a car crash in Fond du Lac County.

The Fond du Lac Alcohol Licensing Committee voted unanimously to suspend the station’s liquor license Monday, May 22, 2023.

The Shell station, also called the Fond du Lac Express Mart, is owned by NP Petroleum. The company agreed to settle with the city to suspend its liquor license for 90 days.

The station acquired over 200 demerit points for selling to the minors. When demerit points are given to a business it leads to consequences with the city. Once too many demerit points are acquired, businesses can have their license to sell alcohol suspended or revoked. If the station gets any more demerit points against it during the suspension, the liquor license would be automatically revoked.
