Local police departments hold “bike rodeos” to help teach safe riding habits

As warm weather and summer approach, so do kids out on bicycles, and many area police departments are holding bike rodeos, which are programs focused on educating children about bike safety and promoting safe riding habits. These events typically feature activities like bike inspections, safety lectures, and skills courses,
Some local bike rodeos include The City of Fond du Lac Police Department’s which is Tuesday, June 17th from noon to 3 pm at Theisen Middle School. This event is open to kids 5-11 and snacks and beverages will be served. Pre registration is required by June 10th. The City of Waupun Police will host their event June 6th at the new community center at 520 McKinley Street from 1-3 PM. Their event is open to kids 12 and under and a waiver must be signed by a parent.
And The Village of Oakfield Police will host their bike rodeo May 28th from 3:30-5 PM. Its open to kids of all ages and will be held at the Oakfield Fire Station on White Street.
Kids should bring their own bikes and helmets to each event.
