Local school referendums shot down by voters, but not by much
A blow to Oakfield and North Fond du Lac school districts this election day as voters in those districts vote no to each school’s proposed referendums.
In Oakfield, the school district was looking for $4,400,000 divided evenly over the next four years to go towards what they said would be maintaining high quality educational programs, funding on-going building maintenance, and maintaining a high level of staff retention. There the referendum was voted down 1050 – 963.
In North Fond du Lac, that district was asking to exceed revenue limits over the next five school years by several millions of dollars for what they say was needed for continued safety,
current programs and services and to operate additional space. Voters voted against it 2413 to 2320. A difference of only 93 votes.
