The Brewers 2012 season came to a fitting end on Wednesday with the bullpen blowing a big lead. The Crew built a 6-0 lead on the back of 4 RBI by Travis Ishikawa and then the bullpen couldn’t hold the lead as San Diego won 7-6.  Jim Henderson ended up taking the loss.  K-Rod and John Axford did throw scoreless 8th and 9th innings to finish out the season.  The Crew finished the season at 83-79, 5 games behind the Cardinals in the Wild Card race and 14 games behind the Reds in the NL Central.  Ryan Braun finishes the season with a .319 average, 41 homers and 112 RBI.  Should be MVP type numbers but some voters may not vote for him because of last year’s over-turned failed drug test.

Baseball’s playoffs were set on the final day of the season.  Oakland completed an improbable run to win the AL West with a 12-5 win over Texas.  The Yankees won the AL East with a 14-2 win over Boston and Baltimore’s 4-1 loss at Tampa Bay.   So the one game Wild Card matchups are set for Friday as the Braves host the Cardinals and Baltimore travels to Texas.  The Tigers Miguel Cabrera also official won the Triple Crown with in the AL with a .330 batting average, 44 homers and 139 RBI.

The Packers got back on the practice field on Wednesday as they get ready for a trip to Indianapolis on Sunday.  For center Jeff Saturday, it’s a Homecoming of sorts as he played his first 13 NFL seasons with the Colts before signing with the Packers this past offseason.  Sunday’s game kicks off at Noon.  Coverage begins at 10am on News-Talk 1450 KFIZ.

Greg Jennings looks like he won’t play this weekend against the Colts.  The Packers WR left Sunday’s win over the Saints after he re-aggravated a groin injury and did not practice on Wednesday.  Defensive lineman Mike Neal practiced for the first time since coming off of a 4 game suspension for violating the leagues substance abuse policy.  Head Coach Mike McCarthy says that Neal looked in shape during the workout.

Aaron Rodgers has been named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week for his 4 TD

day last Sunday against the Saints.

The three men accused of beating up Badgers running back Montee Ball this past summer have been ordered to stand trial. The three UW students were in Dane County Court for a preliminary hearing on Tuesday.

The Fond du Lac Cardinal Soccer team has earned a #3 seed in their sectional as they head into the playoffs with their first game next Tuesday night at home against New London. In the meantime, Coach Greg Winkler’s squad still has one game remaining in regular season play, against West Bend West. The Spartans are a #10 seed in the same sectional, but Winkler says it’s important not to overlook anyone before they head into the playoffs.  You can catch Fond du Lac vs West Bend West tonight right here on News Talk 1450 KFIZ and also streaming live at KFIZ.com presented by Marian University. Kickoff is set for 7pm with the Backyard Grill pregame show at 6:35pm.
