Man Dead After Shooting At Officers While Atop Germantown Middle School

An incident at a Germantown middle school in Washington County last night, Monday, October 23, 2023, drew a huge police response and left one man dead according to a press release.
The incident started just before 7 PM when a call came in that a man was outside Kennedy Middle School acting erratically. Sources on social media say the initial call was
because the man was removing handicap parking signs from the parking lot of the school.
Germantown police responded to the scene and when they arrived, the man ran, climbing onto the school’s roof. Several officers followed him and while on the roof, the man shot at police. Officers returned fire, striking the man and he died at the scene.
The school was said to have about 70 students inside while this unfolded and the building was placed on lockdown. No other injuries occurred and kids were eventually
reunited with parents after the scene was deemed safe.
All Germantown schools are off today because of the incident. The Wisconsin Department of Justice is investigating the case.
