Man followed traffic signals while eluding Fond du Lac Police

Fond du Lac Police were involved in a slow speed chase last night.
At about 9:30 p.m., a Ripon Police Officer in Fond du Lac on an unrelated matter, notified the Fond du Lac County Communications Center of a vehicle traveling the wrong way on S. Macy Street near 1st Street. The vehicle was also observed operating without headlights or taillights.
Shortly after a FDLPD Officer spotted a vehicle without headlights or taillights near Johnson Street and National Avenue. The Officer attempted a traffic stop, but the driver continued to travel at or near the speed limit. The vehicle eventually turned onto Elm Acres Drive, where they refused to comply with officers commands.
The suspect began to drive away but An Officer deployed a tire deflation device, successfully puncturing at least one tire. Despite this, the suspect continued to drive away.
A second deployment of stop sticks by another FDLPD Officer at Morningside Drive and E. 2nd Street was successful in further disabling the vehicle. The pursuit ended when a FDLCSO Deputy conducted a (PIT) maneuver in the 1000 block of Bluehill Avenue, bringing the vehicle to a stop.
The pursuit lasted approximately 14 minutes and covered about 2.5 miles. Throughout the incident, the suspect drove at or near the speed limit and obeyed traffic signals.
The suspect was taken into custody without further incident. Fond du Lac Fire Rescue responded and the suspect was transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation. Following treatment, he was booked into the Fond du Lac County Jail on Charges of felony fleeing and eluding, as well as misdemeanor resisting an officer. The driver also received a citation for first-offense operating while intoxicated.
